Out for a quick trip around the block for a walk, That’s when this storm hit we’ll brave this weather together

The band, Baseball Gregg, is composed of two members, Luca Lovisetto and Samuel Regan. The two met in Bologna while Samuel was studying math abroad. They became fast friends and stayed up late recording during la primavera. Sam returned to his life in California, but their relationship didn’t end. In 2015, the two reunited and spent the entire summer writing songs in Sam’s childhood room. For their debut LP, the two recorded Vacation (2016), drawing inspiration from 1980’s Japanese city-pop, including Hiroshi Sato.

Their second LP, Sleep, was recorded in 2018 and published via the reputable Slovakian cassette label Z Tapes and the Italian imprint La Barberia Records. The latter is housed in a barbershop, a place where more than three generations of Modena have received haircuts and shaves. La Barberia Records is also responsible for promoting JJ Mazz, Smash, and Wolther Goes Stranger.

Their song, Fireside, was released in a collection of holiday canzoni titled Gifts. The lyrics, which begin this article above, describe the close relationship the two musicians have cultivated. While listening to the songs, both experience nostalgia and believe each song they created feels like a journal entry — a memory of personal growth, carefree days, and a friendship forged in equally burning passion for la musica.

Though the band members live about 12000 km apart from each other, the obstacles of distance do not deter them. The two are excited to play at SXSW and hope this opportunity will bring greater publicity and the potential to sign with a label.

The two played on Wednesday, March 13 at the Velveeta Room and on Thursday, March 14th at Stephen F’s Bar.
